This is a blast from my past, and a series that has really stuck with me. I read the first three books in paperback a few years ago and loved, loved, loved them. There is different covers, so I'm guessing they have been updated since then.

This series is about a princess that becomes a healer instead of sitting around all day doing nothing. To end a war she is given to the Firelander Warlord as a War Prize. She is lead to believe this means a life of slavery, but nothing could be farther from the truth. She has to learn how to survive in a new culture with strange customs and beliefs. Over the course of three books she has to learn where she belongs in this new world where everyone is a soldier, fight a plague, and battle superstitions that could mean her death.

There is danger, love, a slew of characters that will fascinate, and tears. Oh lord is there tears. I cried like a baby at a few different places through out the series. Even when I reread these books I cried.

There is violence, some nudity but no explicit adult content (at least in the version I read), and though the price is little high for the ebook you can get the used paperbacks for cheap on Amazon. I gave the series five stars because of the power of the story line, the character development is so so good, and how it pulls you in emotionally and just won't let go.

You can find book one on Amazon at the following link:
