Q and A with Derra Nicole Sabo

What did you enjoy most when writing your book?
Honestly, my favorite part of this entire writing process of Dear You was sharing my world and the amazing humans in it with all of you. I am an introvert wrapped inside of an extrovert, so sharing personal pieces of my past or who I am in general can be challenging. Writing steps in when my verbal skills freeze.

How did you come up with the title?
The title actually was created out of the letter I wrote to you, the reader, hence Dear You. It also fits the letter format, each letter personal to me, even the one written to the world and to every person whom should happen to pick up Dear You and take in it's genuineness.

Did you learn anything while writing your book?
The biggest and most impactful lesson I've learned while writing Dear You was that I've got too many scars on my tongue from biting it whether from fears of exposing too much of myself and being judged for it or for thinking that no one will care about what I may have to say. But, I am now at a point in my life where I am no longer concerned with others opinions. See, there will never be anything in this world that all of us are going to be in agreeance with. A split difference of love, hate and not caring either way is how it will always be. With this being the case, you mine as well speak up, just remember, love loudly and hate silently.

About the Author

As someone with anxiety, writing is my way of speaking. When my verbal skills fail, my pen excels. I have always had something to say to the world and to the humans residing in it, I just could never get my mind and mouth to be on the same level. So, I picked up a pen and haven't looked back. I have a message for you. A message for my family, my friends and to all the beating hearts. Dear You is a letter personally written, from me to you.
