“I am not a sidhe, but simply a man, Aila,” he whispered as he nibbled the tender skin of her neck. “Your man, your husband to be exact. I don’t know what you think you saw last night, perhaps you were simply sleepwalking, but I’m very much alive and well and quite capable of making you a very happy woman if only you’ll allow it.”
She shivered in his arms. “I’d expect a sidhe ta say as much.”

Adult time travel romance
This time travel story has an interesting twist with Ian ending up in the body of a dead ancestor. As a soldier that has been to war he suffers from PTSD and boatloads of regret. He struggles with the question of “what if” or “if I”, and it makes it hard for him to live a normal life. I love the character of fate, snark and all. Fate has his own view of what takes priority over Ian’s problems and most of the time it’s something unpleasant for a lot of people. He wants Ian to fix a mistake in the past, and doesn’t want to be bothered much about the details. Poor Aila doesn't know what to think of her new husband’s crazy ways lol. Ian has a different set of values than his ancestor, and this leads to some misconceptions and interesting conversations. Ian must find a way to convince his wife that he’s not dangerous and protect his new people. This is made more difficult with clan rivalry.
Speaking of conversations, there is plenty of adult language floating around in this story that gets very naughty. Even with the somewhat blunt, but often funny, language this is really, at least to me, a sweet story. Aila has almost no self-esteem thanks to her brother, and Ian with his modern views sees her for the treasure she is. Now if only that pesky fate would help lol.
