There is a thin line between the natural and the spiritual realm. Ms. V., a humble servant of the Lord, has been placed on assignment at Center of Hope Christian Academy. By day, she serves as a trusted counselor for students, giving them a safe haven to pour out their innermost feelings while providing professional and honest truth wrapped in a firm kindness and love that inevitably draws them closer to Jesus. Not to be outdone, the faculty also bends her ear from time to time. By night, Ms. V. enters the spiritual realm and takes her place on the battlefield as one of God’s faithful prayer warriors. She wields her whispering sword, slicing through the enemy’s plans to bind the precious hearts under her charge. Her assignment’s burden on her physical body is taxing, but can she withstand the strain and remain victorious? Saving souls is her true mission, but at what cost? Readers are in for a journey of spiritual intrigue and biblical insight as they experience the ramifications of each character’s life-altering decision.

What Motivates our Main Character

By D. Tina Batten

This character indeed without question loves the Lord and wants to continue to be in His will by leading individuals closer to Christ. Her love for people, especially children, is what motivates her. She cares deeply for their well-being and believes in salvation for all. She will spend hours in intercession prayer interceding for not only the children, but for whomever the Lord will lay on her heart to pray for. She is a beacon of light who represents Christ in the world.

By night, Ms. V. enters the spiritual realm and takes her place on the battlefield as one of God’s faithful prayer warriors. She wields her whispering sword, slicing through the enemy’s plans to bind the precious hearts under her charge. Ms. V. gets her strength from the LORD and will fight against the enemy in Jesus' name using the word of God. Which is the sword of the spirit.

Even though the assignment’s burden on her physical body is taxing, she gets not only strength but again, motivation from being obedient to the instructions of the Lord. Her nurturing spirit gives her insight and awareness as to sense when the children are in danger. Spiritually she can hear them call out to her.

In addition, what continues to motivate her over and over again is that Ms. V. is quite aware of her giftings. She knows without a doubt, wholeheartedly her purpose in life. Saving souls is her true mission. To Ms. V. the ultimate prize is to make it into heaven and to spend eternity with the Lord. As Christians, that should be our desired goal as well. I know it is for co-author Traci and myself. In actuality, Ms. V. motivates us in the physical world to care enough about people that we too, like her, will pray for others unconditionally when the Lord drops a name or someone in our own spirit.

In knowing her purpose in life, nothing will steer Ms. V. away. That tells us a lot about this character. Her relentlessness to fight for people who are unable or not strong enough to fight for themselves demonstrates her motivation, thoughtfulness, and love for others. She is such a fascinating character. Is she perfect? No. Does she strive to be the best possible version of herself? Absolutely yes.

Some might even go as far to say that she represents a modern-day superhero. Ms. V. will pray day and night for people. Except for the fact, no one has any idea she is doing what she does. No one is aware of what she goes through on a daily basis. Not the students at the school and certainly not the faculty members. Not even her best friend.

The love of Christ and her love for humanity continues to motivate Ms. V., day in and day out. As for the evening hours, well, that takes on a world of its own. Read the book. You’ll see.

We pray you will enjoy this book and the journey of Ms. V. May she motivate you as well.

EXCERPT

The mist settling over the earth was about five inches high. It nearly obscured the ground in front of her as far as her eyes could see. She was reminded of mud-covered battlefields with little to shield one from enemy fire. The clouds hung low, making the whole scene look like something out of an apocalyptic dream. The fallow ground before her was vast. It was a wasteland, offering only the promise that nothing would ever grow there again. The desolation could have gone on forever, except for the demonic presence that lined itself up like a dirty barrier of windows used to dim and conceal what was on the other side. She felt them, though. She felt each and every one of the children held in bondage on the other side of that transparent demonic force. The thought brought to mind a scripture, and she looked down at the writing on the sword in her hand. She could have spent time thinking about how odd it was that she didn’t remember taking a sword with her, but there were more pressing matters, and she was happy to have the weapon to wield. She began reading the inscribed scripture out loud, her voice ringing across the barren land slick with mud. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,” As the words left her lips, they solidified in the atmosphere, charging toward their mark like a spear. They reached the barrier, causing it to shift and ripple but not tear.
