Taking your best friend’s place on a blind date to let the guy down easy was the plan, taking him to bed wasn’t!

Welcome to JB’s Bookworms with Brandy Mulder
Tell us about your newest book.
Only the Beginning is a contemporary romance showcasing the mistaken identity troupe! It’s set in Halifax, Nova Scotia, one of the most romantic cities in the world.
Writing isn’t easy. What was the most difficult thing you dealt with when writing your book?
Just getting started is the hardest part for me.
Tell us a little bit about your writing career.
I’ve published several young adult novels. Girl on the Run was chosen by the Canadian Children’s Book Centre as a Best Book for Teens in 2016. Since then I’ve started writing romance, The Right Fit was published last year.
They say Hind-sight is 20/20. If you could give advice to the writer you were the first time you sat down to write, what would it be?
It’s going to be a long road with a lot of rejections, but as long as you keep enjoying sharing stories, you’ll be fine. Don’t quit your day job.
What was your most difficult scene to write?
The argument scene! I hate it when my characters are in turmoil.
Are themes a big part of your stories, or not so much?
I just write the story and usually by the time I’ve done a few revisions a central theme emerges that was there all along.
What are you working on now?
Revisions on my young adult sci-fi retelling of Cinderella, NEVER ONCE. So excited for this one! A reviewer described it as if George Lucas had written a fairy tale.
Is there a release date planned?
It’s coming out February 2019 from Macmillan.
Is there anything you would like to add before we finish?
Thank you so much for having me and helping share Only the Beginning with your followers. When readers leave reviews it is so helpful and really makes a difference in a books’ success. But other ways to help an author are to talk about the book with their friends, share pictures and quotes on social media and of course ask your local library to order it in.
Absolutely. Good luck with your newest release, and thank you for being with us today.
Thank you so much for hosting and helping share Only the Beginning with your followers.! ~Daphne
