Brandy's Book Nook: Writer's On The River book signing event

Writer's On The River
Peoria, IL

✩✩✩✩✩

Hi everyone! Last weekend I attended Writer's on the River for the third time and had a blast! This event raises money for Thistle Farms which helps women. Part of the fundraising is a raffle after the book signing is over. This year's raffle had three or four long tables packed full of donations. There were also three quilts raffled, so make sure to bring a little extra money for a good cause! If you go to the website they say that there is over 80 romance authors, but I wanted to let you know that there is more than just romance. Like the author's table pictured below.

This is the table for the book I reviewed last week titled "The True Death". Definitely not romance! This guy is a riot, but like his books is not afraid of some cursing lol.

VIP bags are packed full of goodies and are almost full before you even start, so I recommend bringing an extra bag or a bag on wheels as you will wear your arms out. All of the authors are super friendly and lots of fun. There is also a table hop where you can be entered in a drawing for prizes, and several authors do their own separate giveaways. Pictured below is a super fun table that had swag and bubbles!

You will find every table has something interesting, and some authors bring their cover models!

The ladies that organize the event are also authors, and love meeting fans. They work really hard, and the event runs so well that it shows how much everyone cares about making it great for everyone. The Anya Breton, shown below, is an author and part of the group that organizes everything.

She ran a challenge to promote her new book, and ended up having to wear a llama outfit to the after party! She was a true sport about it and rocked that outfit while running the cards against humanity tournament.

Speaking of the after party who doesn't want to hang out with some cover models?

The after party also features food that includes the now infamous potato bar, dancing, a photo fun booth, and this year added the cards against humanity tournament. You will leave so tired but so happy as you make new friends, and find new books to fill your shelves. I will be posting new reviews of some of the books that I picked up from this event, and there are new releases coming soon from attending authors. You can find the event FB page by following this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/writersontheriver/?ref=bookmarks. This page features updates from attending authors, sales on tickets, and up to date information on which authors are attending. I highly recommend attending this event even for those who have never been to a signing before. You won't feel crowded out or rushed. Everyone is super helpful, and volunteers are always present to help with anything you need. The next event is July 18, 2020 and I hope to see many, many of you there!
