A Day In My Writing Life

by A.E. Stanfill

I imagine for all writers, especially for me, writing can be hectic at times. I have two kids, both teenagers (fun times, wink, wink) that always seem to want to argue or come and interrupt me during my writing time. I also have two german shepherds that can be a handful, that need taken out and fed at certain times. And I can’t make my wife do all the work, believe me I’ve tried. Nah, I wouldn’t do that, it wouldn’t be fair to her. On top of my normal everyday life, I also have a fulltime job that requires much of my time and attention. Though I do try my best to get at least two hours of writing done a day.

When I finally do get my first draft done, I put my manuscript aside for a few weeks before I start the editing process which can be a pain at times. In all honesty it may take me up to half a year or more to have my manuscript done and sent off to the publisher. Though in the end, knowing that I accomplished my goal makes it all worthwhile. Seeing the finished product and being able to hold the book that I wrote in my hands is very exciting. I believe if you can get through the hectic times and stay focused, reaching a writing goal should be easy enough. All in all, my writing life is fun and it keeps me on my toes. Wouldn’t change it for the world.
