The Vampire Alfred, is known as the Fortier. Vicious, renowned and feared.

Alfred Zeidan is proclaimed Fortier, the Strongest amongst the vampires. After ending a century old feud between the two most prominent vampire houses, he sets out to rid his race of a shadow that has long haunted them.

The Elders have been the deciding factor in the fall of so many civilizations that date back to Carthage and the Romans. So many have fallen to them, but now Alfred as the Strongest takes on this challenge.

No one has ever considered a world without the Elders running it, would it spread chaos in the Underground? Or will it shift the balance of the supernatural completely? One thing is for certain: Alfred intends to see this through. Will he succeed? Or will succumb as those before him?

The Things He Desires Most and Why.

I desire nothing, and everything. Humans can be so interesting in their pursuit of happiness or a higher calling. Some claim to prefer solitude but none may withstand it. There are things in this mundane world that are worthy to fight for, but the concept itself belittles me. I refuse to partake. I shall not reason or demand answers where none exist; I will simply fulfill one thing: I shall free this planet from those who rule them behind the shadows. Let then, those who claim divinity fall on their knees and beg forgiveness… I desire freedom, at the price of blood.

Someone has to do it. Someone must hold this world accountable for the sins it has committed against itself; may it be purged with the blood of the sword, or guns or whatever toys humanity has invented to destroy itself. It is said that only a life lived for others is worthwhile, but I ask of you, have you seen such nobility recently? How often do thoughts of saving this planet linger within those too weak to fight the tides of war?

I am absolute, I exist for only one purpose: to destroy those too arrogant to see the consequences of their actions. When confronted, those in power are dumbfounded when those beneath them step forth with a litany of their wrong doings. What has ever changed? Since the time of the Roman Empire, only one thing has remained constant and that, is greed.

Desiring a better world seems like a luxury, for it is those too weak to do anything about it who keep on dreaming, forgetting that nightmares are dreams too. A good friend of mine once said “they say only the strong collapse, because the weak are always on the ground.” Is it too much to ask the weak to get up and fight for a world that they no longer own? To have an algorithm define those who succeed and those who fail… is that the best humans can do with the concept of justice?

Humans believe that the strongest may survive, but I have but one thing to say to them:

Whoever thinks this right, step forth and make your claim. But know that in the act, you forfeit your life to me.

Author Bio:

M.G. Darwish is an award nominated author who writes dark, twisted and action-packed fiction. He tries his best not to base his characters on anyone he knows in real life to avoid that extra weird conversation about how they were brutalized and killed in the book. Oh and he’s terrified of a penguin uprising more than ghosts and demons.

He is best known for his Secret of the Moonlight which was featured on Wattpad.
