Our world was perfect––until we broke the law: Don't go out at night.
Utopian by day, dystopian by night; this is the world I recently discovered. I now struggle with the fact that our whole society has been based on a lie. There's only one way to change it––conquer the darkness we've all been raised to fear.
Live the lie; fight to the death; become a Handler. It's the only way.

Welcome to JB’s Bookworms with Brandy Mulder
Tell us about your writing career. How long have you been writing?
Tell us about your writing career. How long have you been writing?
I published my first book, Scent of a White Rose (a new adult vampire paranormal romance) in 2011, so that makes seven years as of January 2018.
How did you choose your genre?
I grew up watching superhero cartoons and loving anything and everything magical or fantasy, so naturally, that’s where my brain went once I decided to put pen to paper.
Sounds like there are some great memories there.

Tell us about your most recent book?
Handler is a sci-fi/dystopian thriller in which the world has been redesigned into a utopian society with only one law: Do not go out at night. But when his friend goes missing, Colizan (Cole) decides to break the law and venture into the unknown to find him. Unfortunately, what he discovers is that his society has been based on a lie. A lie that affects the entire world and will change his life forever.
The premise sounds awesome.

Tell us a little about the other books you’ve published. Series, or stand-alone?
I’m probably best known for my Witches of BlackBrook series: 2017 - #1 Bestseller in Historical Fiction, 2017 - Top 100 Bestselling in Paid Kindle Store, 2015 - Best Cover, 2015 - Readers Choice Award. I’ve also penned The Women of Purgatory trilogy (book #3 coming in 2018) and The Rose Trilogy, as well as The Ovialell series, and am also the co-author of The TS901 Chronicles alongside Stacey Rourke.
So many of us are intrigued by covers and titles. How did you come up with your title?
Most the time it’s just a word or phrase within the manuscript, or in the case of The Rose Trilogy, I woke up from a dream with the titles and plot fully formed.
Are you working on a new story now? If so, please share a little about it?
Are you working on a new story now? If so, please share a little about it?
I’m currently writing a short-story for the Havenwood Falls Legends series that’s set to release in June 2018, as well as working on TS901 Book #2, and after that will dive into Book #3 of the Women of Purgatory trilogy, Holli’s Hellfire.

Excerpt
May 2069 ... Blood coated bodies littered the ground as the mushroom cloud dissipated in the distance. Horror struck faces stared up at me, frozen forever with tears streaking down soot-covered cheeks. I swallowed hard as I stared into their dead eyes.“Colizan, would you care to join us for a walk?” Father asked, pulling me from the image in my history book.
I slammed the cover shut and smiled. “Of course, it would be my pleasure.”
The warm sun glinted off the quartz sidewalk as my father, mother, and I strolled from our assigned dwinn in the Northern territory of Atal. Winding our way through the gardens which led to Common Park had always been their preferred route. Picture perfect displays of green grass, sparkling quartz, lush flowers, and elaborate water features dotted the landscape. Mother and Father chatted enthusiastically just ahead of me while I took in the scenery––the same scenery I’d enjoyed every day for eighteen years. I tilted my head back and appreciated the glass and quartz buildings that lined the sky. Some were tall and towering, others round and inviting; I loved them all. I sighed and quickened my pace as we approached my favorite part of the city––the museum. It reminded me of a picture I’d once seen of the Sydney Opera House in Australia, but instead of white and cream concrete, it was all glass. Ever since I was young, I always made it a point to stop and read the plaque outside, and today was no exception.
“ATAL. Est. 2027. Redesigned from the ashes of Atlanta.”
An image of a Genesis machine hovered over the war-struck city in the foreground, and in the background stood the utopian paradise left in its wake. The large spaceship-like device, with its metallic domed body and long tendrils of machinery hanging down, had always fascinated me.
