Thanks for joining us today, Daniel. Tell us a little bit about your story.
I am the professor Claire McCormick meets one fateful day at Richmond College, and she asks me for help with her freelance writing. We end up dating, and I end up giving her a choice – become a vampire or else!
Hahaha, I'm thinking 'Or else" isn't a good option.
Is there anything you would want changed if the Author asked you?
No, I am fine just as I am.
How would you describe your Author?
She’s hardworking, imaginative and dedicated.
Do you feel like she portrayed you correctly?
Yes and no. She portrayed me as evil, but that’s a bit unfair. I am a vampire, our ways are different from humans. The things we do are to protect our kind, and to discipline progenies and would-be vampires.
How about others in the story. Do you feel she did well with them?
Yes, though I have a problem with her telling Hilde’s story…
You might be wondering why I’m wearing a scarf on a hot sunny day. It’s not that I don’t trust you, (Tightens the scarf), or anything. I’m just deathly allergic to vampire venom. You know like some people are with bees? So please don’t bite me.
:Stares coldly:
Okay, now that that’s settled. Who created you in the story?
Hilde took my human blood, and Michel gave me vampire blood, so they are like my parents.
Are you still connected?
Yes, we are in contact. In fact, we’re neighbors in the New York neighborhood at TriBeCa. We talk, we spend time together, but what Claire sees is mostly an act.
Was there a reason for your creation?
Well, it was during the Black Death, the great plague in 1347. Everyone was dying around me; my family died. I thought I was next until Hilde came for me.
Where are you from initially?
Paris, France
Were you happy or angry about the transition from human to bloodsuc--, I mean vampire?I’m reluctant to admit, but I was very upset. Not happy at all. But I overcame my concerns and embrace what I was.
What’s your favorite blood type?
Anything that is not from the bottom of society. I miss the days where we could drink from anyone. But the damn surveillance and investigators make it so tough these days. We have to hide our numbers now.
Where is your favorite place to dine? Some of us might want to avoid any late night forays there in the future.
I have a thing for parks. Easy to hide and drink with all the trees and bushes around/
Have you seen any more stories in the recesses of your Author’s mind? Yes
Do you get to play a part in any of them? I do, indeed. I play a big role in the sequel to “The Dark Proposal”

There was a pregnant pause with both waiting for the other to speak or make the first move. For a second, she wondered if this was going to be the moment he would make her like him or kill her instead.
“No, Claire,” he spoke suddenly. She jumped, startled. “It’s up to you to say yes. And remember I did tell you I can read your thoughts.”
“Then please stop, because you’re freaking me out,” she said.
He arched one eyebrow, and for a moment, she feared he would attack her. But instead, he crossed one arm across his chest and put the opposite hand under his chin, as though contemplating something.
“I see you’ve accepted somewhat of what I revealed to you,” he finally said.
“A little.” She felt like she was preparing for war.
“What?” He sounded curious. “Is there something else you can’t comprehend?”
“Yeah,” she said in a shaky voice. Her eyes were downcast, and when she was ready, she lifted them to look right at him. “I did some research while in New Jersey. There’s a lot of websites about real vampires.”
“Yes?” Daniel raised his eyebrows.
Taking a deep breath, she said, “I think you killed Colin Willis.”
His face expressionless, he lowered his arms and closed his eyes, shaking his head. He ran one hand over his face as Claire continued.
“I read a blog about his murder. There are rumors going around that he had two holes on the side of his neck. There was no blood in his body.” She swallowed and asked, almost pleading, “Did you really do it? Honestly, Dan?”
Removing his hand, he looked right at her and said, “I think you know the answer to that question.”
She did, and whatever hope she had that he did not murder Willis quickly dissolved. She began to pant in horror at first, but then in anger. “I mean, you knew as everyone else that there was no evidence of foul play,” he was saying, nonchalantly watching her. “Plus, there were no suspects -”
Claire suddenly pounced on Daniel, arms flailing as she hit him in the face and chest. She was screaming about him being a murderer and how evil he was.
It didn’t last long because he soon caught her flying fists and held a tight grip on her wrists, holding them away from him. His grip was beyond solid, like a steel machine, and his eyes were hollow with rage. For a moment, she thought he was going to attack her again. No, he was going to kill her. She dared to hit him, dared to defy him and now she would pay the price.
He held her in his harsh eyes for a moment, and then shoved her hands away, practically pushing her away from him. “Honestly, who else would’ve done it?”
