A Character Interview with Dakota Hamilton, A Witch from Demon Saga, Volume Two, by Author Raven Williams

Genre: Epic Fantasy

And the quest continues. Will the prophecy be fulfilled, or is the Universe doomed to Darkness?

Five guardians have been found, but four remain a mystery. While Mareena and her Sister-Witches work hard, using every magical means possible to find them, the forces of Darkness are up to their evil tricks, and the remaining four Witches are beset by evil manipulations wherever they turn.

Will they make it to Wolf Village and join the Coven or will evil triumph? If they do make it, will the re-formed Coven be able to defeat the Dark Mother, Lilith, the she-demon, Aisabahl, and their minions? Will Alessandra, the Vampire Queen, aid Raven Coven, or will she finally choose to stand with the forces of Darkness. It's only a matter of time before the final battle begins.

An Interview with Dakota Hamilton, one of the witches from Raven Coven in Demon Stones Saga, Volume Two

Thank you for Interviewing with me today Dakota.
Thanks, Jena. It’s a pleasure to be here. ::whispers:: I’ll let you in on a little secret. Mareena Shadowwalker, as our coven’s leader, was going to do it, but I snuck over here and beat her to the punch. I hope you don’t mind?

Not at all, and mums the word. Your secret is safe with me.
When did you become a witch, or were you born that way?

I was born a witch. I, like my mother, am descended from the Ancient Witch Line that came into being several millennia ago.

What was your upbringing like?
My childhood was not normal like other kids. It was just me and my dad. Mom died giving birth to me. I used to blame myself for Mom dying, well if I’m being totally honest, there are times I still do. The doctors couldn’t tell Dad why Mom didn’t survive childbirth, but I suspect my magic was too strong for her body to handle. I could be wrong, but I guess I’ll never know. Anyway, I was constantly stalked by evil creatures, but my father wouldn’t tell me why. He got tired of the incessant attacks and started Hamilton Security Agency. Needless to say, the constant bodyguards made dating unbearable. But I’m adult now and run the agency my dad started.

What was your first spell?
Because Mom wasn’t around, I didn’t have anyone to teach me about magic. When things happened, Dad glossed them over. I never knew I was casting spells. The one that sticks out in my mind the most was when I was about six. We had just watched one of the Harry Potter movies and I decided I wanted to be like Hermione. So, Dad bought me a wand and I would wave it around, saying made up words, then get upset when nothing happened. Well, I had this doll head that you could cut its hair, curl it, brush it, well you get the picture. I decided I wanted it a different color. So, I grabbed my wand, pointed it at the doll head, and made up a spell. Imagine my surprise when the doll’s brown hair became the colors of the rainbow! ::laughs at the memory::

Did it backfire?

Considering I was six and the doll’s hair changed color, I guess it didn’t backfire. But what do I know? I was just a kid. ::continues chuckling:: Of course, Dad wasn’t too happy with me. It was then I got the first of many lectures about hiding my magic.

Please, tell us a little bit about your story.

Well, my part of the story in Demon Stones Saga, Volume Two (which will be released soon) is in the section titled “A Witch’s Courage.” The girls of Raven Coven find me and I convince my father to let me move from Mobile, AL (where we lived) to Wolf Village in Washington state. Let me tell you, that took some convincing. Anyway, each of us have a necklace. Mine is this ruby stone. ::pulls necklace from beneath shirt:: They are called Demon Stones because they warn when evil is near. They also boost our magical abilities. Anyway, there’s this prophecy that says all nine of us must come together to defeat a great evil and keep Earth and the universe from falling into darkness. Talk about a huge responsibility.

Indeeed. Where did your Author come up with this idea?

I’m not really sure. Raven has so much stuff swirling in that brain of hers, it’s a wonder anything cohesive ever comes about. ::chuckles again:: I do remember seeing a little tidbit in her mind that said the idea came about when she was writing Witch Hunters’ Society.

Is there anything you would change if you wrote your story?
Well, I don’t want to give away the ending. But, I’m a bit concerned about how she left things with me at the end of Demon Stones Saga, Volume Two. I think she’s planning on writing a new series that me, the other girls of the coven, as well as the rest of the cast of characters will feature in at times, but I’m not really sure. I hope she does, I’d really like to know what is going to happen with me.

Who’s your best friend?
I don’t really have a best friend. I suspect that will change as I get to know the girls of the coven better. Growing up, I kept my distance from the other kids because I was different. Then, as an adult, Dad and I run the agency. I have a team of men I lead, and they are friends, but none I’d call a best friend.

Your worst enemy?
My worse enemy are the Vampires. There’s something about my blood that attracts them. That is a little plot twist Raven threw into the story, so I can’t reveal it. But anyone who wants to find out will have to read Demon Stones Saga, Volume Two when it releases. ::winks::

Was there a learning curve when dealing with charms, spells, or potions?

Not so much a learning curve, more being confident in my abilities. The other girls are quite powerful, and I felt like I wouldn’t be able to keep up. But as I work with them and we link our magic, I’m growing more confident and can now call upon my gifts at will.

Have you ever cursed anyone?
Up until joining the coven, no. However, I can’t say if the coven does or doesn’t. I don’t want to give away the ending, you know. ::grins::

Why?

Let’s just say, if the only thing standing between life and death is a curse, then I’ll curse. But it’s something I won’t take lightly.

What is the best part about being a witch?
Duh, the magical abilities!

Are there things, besides spells, you can do that regular humans can’t?

I can manipulate air. When necessary, I use it to deflect bullets, items thrown at me, send an enemy flying, that type of thing.

Have you seen any forthcoming stories bouncing around in your Author’s mind?

Oh yeah! She’s got plans for several more twisted fairytales, some new, modern-day fairytales, two or three new series, but her mind’s so chaotic, I can’t tell what goes with what. I guess we’ll all have to wait and see what she comes up with next.

Will you be in them?
I think she plans on including me and the coven in one of the new series. In fact, I think she’s already plotting the first book, which reveals what happened to me after Demon Stones Saga ended.

What’s the hardest part of being a fantasy character?

Nothing. I absolutely love it. Who wouldn’t? I get to cast magic, kick the bad guys’ butts, and solve riddles. Life is one big epic adventure!

What is your darkest secret?

Well, I can’t tell you that, now can I? It would spoil the plot of the book that hasn’t been released yet and the series to come. ::winks again:: I will say I do believe you’ll enjoy it, and I can’t wait to see where Raven goes with it.

Thank you for joining us today.
Thank you. It’s been a pleasure! ::shakes hand::
