This is not a fairy tale--but it does have suspense, humor, a quest, and a happy ending. When Jason and Pam Ogden decided to adopt a baby, they had no idea that their adoption process would stretch over a period of two years, and that their baby would be a toddler by the time they were able to bring him home. Taken straight from Pam's personal travel journal, He Made Me Brave chronicles the long-awaited emotional trip she and her husband took to South Korea to meet their new son. Through these powerful journal entries, you will:

· Experience Pam's fear, grief, anticipation, and joy as you read her private, honest thoughts.

· Discover the challenges faced by these adoptive parents as they started the bonding process.

· Be encouraged by God's sovereignty and power over anxiety.

He Made Me Brave is the touching memoir of a mother defying fear to be united with the little boy she had been dreaming of for two years, and an account of hope fulfilled.

Ten Things You Never Knew about the Author

1. I have an obsession with miniatures. When I was a teenager, I would walk around pretending that everything around me was built in miniature and admiring the detailed craftsmanship. I once built a 1-inch to 1-foot scale model of a 1920s farmhouse, complete with working lights, weathered siding, and fall leaves on the porch.

2. I don’t like any breakfast foods. I prefer last night’s leftovers first thing in the morning over coffee and pastries.

3. I don’t really enjoy brushing my teeth, but I love flossing. It’s like scratching an itch.

4. I have my Master’s degree in counseling because I thought maybe I would be a counselor someday, but it turns out I’m too much of an introvert for a job that requires talking to people all day.

5. When I was 2, I fell off a stool and knocked my two front teeth out. It took so long for my permanent teeth to grow in that I sang “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” for about 4 years.

6. Among my first dates were: a guy who had a very long pinkie fingernail which he called his “conversation piece,” a guy who picked me up in a car that had a folded up afghan instead of a passenger seat, a guy with such an unusual first name that I accidentally suggested he made it up, and a guy who offered to give me his stereo if I went out with him.

7. When I was first married, I was terrified of having children and didn’t think I would ever be a mom. We are now in the process of adopting our sixth child.

8. When I was a freshman in college, some friends and I snuck into the art building through a window in the middle of the night and worked on our art projects while listening to Led Zeppelin. I’m a breaking and entering over-achiever.

9. Among my many irrational fears is a serious phone phobia. I will go to great lengths to avoid having to make a phone call, and if I must, I will mentally role-play the whole conversation ahead of time.

10. I played the lead role in our church Christmas play one year when I was in grade school, complete with a soliloquy and several solo songs. My character was an orphan, ironically. I needed to go to the bathroom throughout the entire performance.
