Primal Instinct

by Ally Parker

(Prowlers #1)

Publication date: September 16th 2019
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

Freedom has been a pleasure denied to Mackenzie for the last five years. Forced to do the bidding of a crazed man to keep both her sister and her self alive, she is sent on a mission to infiltrate a group of people. Payment; their release. The only problem, no one mentioned they weren’t human. Or, that she would be drawn to a certain sexy, addictive male.

Which will she decide, her heart? Or her freedom?

In a world filled with despair, Jaxx’s only chance to save his humanity is tethered to a woman he hasn’t met. Finding her in an underground facility with his kidnapped protégé, was the last place he thought to find his savior. In a web of corruption, he will have to find the truth and convince his mate, she is his.

Before it’s too late.

A Quirky Interview with Author

Ally Parker

Welcome to JB’s Bookworms with Brandy Mulder
Thank you for having me. I’m excited to be here!

What made you decide you wanted to write?
The real motivation was a result of a rough time I went through… In 2009 I struggled with postpartum depression. It was horrible and something that I thought would never happen to me. Reading got me through it. Books were my escape when I needed one. Every vampire or shifter helped keep me level when I needed to be. That’s when I decided I wanted to provide escapes for other people that might need one.

Books are Excellent getaways. What inspired your first story?
I love the concept of fated mates in paranormal romance. One day I thought what would happen if I added the ticking time bomb of evolving glyphs for my Prowler guys. Their tattoo like markings are a countdown that shows everyone how close they are to turning rogue—monsters that kill anything they can get their hands on. The only thing able to save them is to find and mate with the one female able to leash their creatures. Because I’m cruel to my characters, I then fabricated situations that would make them both work for their happy ever after.

What sort of people or writers inspire you?
Nothing inspires me more than a good attitude. My day job as a nurse allows me to meet many inspirational people. There are a lot of folks out there that have so much going on—health or otherwise, and yet they still remain positive and focused on what’s important to them. I love that and try to incorporate that kind of attitude into my everyday life.

Tell us about more about your books.
All the male shifters in my Prowler series have their humanity tethered to an evolving wolf glyph. When their tattoo like marking complete, they turn rogue. Their only chance to survive is to find the one female strong enough to leash their beast. Prowler books carry a theme of tortured heroes, imperfect heroines and a journey where even tarnished characters find a place to belong.

Do you have any quirky or hard-headed characters?
Ha! All my leading characters are hard-headed. Some are more reasonable than others, but they are all strong willed and determined creatures.

If you could disappear into any fantasy world you’ve read, (aside from your own), which would it be?
Hmm, this is a hard question. I’m a bit of a book hussy, so I love a lot of fantasy worlds—they all seem to be my favorite. If I had to pick one world to disappear into, I’d say Wolves of Winter’s Edge by T.S. Joyce. Or, any of the Bride Hunt series by Charlene Hartnady. Or, Pamela Palmer’s Vamp City— A Blood Seduction. Or, MacRieve by Kresly Cole… Like I said, I’m a book hussy. It’s impossible to choose just one world.

If you were a fantasy creature, what would you want to be?
I can never decide between a vampire or a wolf shifter. I love staying up late and the thought of immortality is appealing. Kinda. But, the sight of blood makes me feel faint. See my dilemma? I’m also very shy so being nude in front of a pack would also be an issue. Maybe a hybrid?

I love bouncing around with alternative choices, so …

Angel or demon?
Demon

Fairy or Witch?

Land or air?

City or Country?

Are there any books planned for the future that we can look forward too?
Sure is J. I’m working on the next instalment of the Prowler series right now. Primal Night—book two to be released in early December 2019 and Primal Need in early 2020, Primal Possession mid 2020.
