The Reaper Collection by Jade Royal - Paranormal Thriller - Death will soon find you...
Interview with Author
Jade Royal
Welcome to JB’s Bookworms with Brandy Mulder. Tell us about your newest book.
There are
actually four main characters because there are four different stories inside.
Each of them get their chance at revenge. None of the characters know each
other but they have the same goals. Getting down to the truth and exposing it
is all they care about. Each of these Reapers are women too, but that doesn’t
change what they’re willing to do to seek payback.
Writing isn’t easy. What was the most difficult thing you
dealt with when writing
When the characters change their mind about the direction of
the story. I’ve rewritten a book four times because I didn’t get the story
right. When you get to know your character and what they want to say, as the
author, you have to know when to shut up your opinions about the story and
write the tale. With this particular story, it’s a harder tale to write and
parts of me want to water down the details of the trauma so as not to offend
the readers. And because of that, I lose sight of the mission and hence
rewrites. I’ve NEVER had a more stubborn character than Sampson (Limits of Love
Series, Book 3). He’s the hold up in the series.
Tell us a little bit about your writing career.
I published my first book in Dec of 2016. It’s the
introduction of my Limits of Love Series (BDSM Romance). It gives you a preview
of some very key characters in the series. I have two series to date. My
Imprinted Mates Series (Paranormal Romance) is the second one. I spent a lot of
time writing in multi-author projects for exposure and just to learn different
aspects of the business. Currently, I’m writing full-time with a crazy release
list for 2021 including For Love, Not War (Paranormal Romance), the first book
in my new series titled A Battle of Legacies Series.
They say Hind-sight is 20/20. If you could give advice to
the writer you were the first time you sat down to write, what would it be?
Follow your dreams. I spent years wishing that I was a
published author instead of doing it. Do you know how many books I could have
written by now? lol
What was your most difficult scene to write?
Back to Sampson, he was abused by his adopted father. There
are several scenes that I had to get up and walk away from because they were so
intense. That protective side of me didn’t want any of those things to happen
to my dear Sampson. He’s too kind-hearted.
Are themes a big part of your stories, or not so much?
You know, I didn’t think so but I had an alpha reader tell
me that all of my books have an underlying theme of music. And I guess because
music is something that is heavily a part of not only my writing ritual but
also my day to day ones too. I’m always
listening to music.
What are you working on now?
I am working on a book called For Love, Not War. It’s
a paranormal romance book that is the first in a series called A Battle of
Legacies Series. There is a cursed king and kingdom where corruption is
definitely happening. He can’t tell anyone the truth because he’s crazed. It’s
up to his children to break the curse and restore their legacy. Problem is
they’re in different parts of the world and they have to be unified and mated
to amplify their powers and go back to their realm. Until then, the king and
queen are being tormented for fun while the kingdom is run by those who cursed
them.
Is there a release date planned?
January 28th, 2021
Who is your favorite character from your own stories, and
why?
Howard from my Limits of Love Series is me written as a man.
He’s pretty epic. And then my second favorite would have to be Saint. He’s the
main character in my second book for my Savage Kings Series. The first one is
in an anthology called Hot Moroccan Nights.
Most writers were readers as children. What was your
favorite book in grade school?
I read the entire Boxcar Kids by
Gertrude Chandler Warner, The Babysitters Club by Ann Martin, Sweet Valley High
by Francine Pascal, GhostWriter Series by Eric Weiner, The Invisible Live
Trilogy Series by E. Lynn Harris, and much much more.
What are your plans for future projects?
If I told you all of the details that wouldn’t keep you guys
guessing, now would it? I do have several releases lined up for 2021 and 2022.
A lot of them are Paranormal Romance but I’ll keep releasing books in my Limits
of Love Series, BDSM Romance Themed, as well. I also have a series about music
and a few multiple authors sets coming as well. Stay tuned...
Is there anything you would like to add before we finish?
You guys should definitely stalk me on social media to find
up what’s next. That way you’ll always be in the loop. And don’t forget to grab
your copy of The Reaper. It’s in all of the major book retailers for now.
Eventually, that’ll change and it’ll be in Kindle Unlimited hopefully.
Good luck with your newest release, and thank you for being
with us today.
Excerpt
“Thirty,” Remi blurted.
“Thirty what? It’s going to take more than a measly thirty bucks to get you out of this, Remington.”
“Thirty seconds,” Remi pushed anxiously. She needed more time.
“Fourteen. No more. No less.”
Remi mumbled to herself. Maybe this was just a sick joke that would reveal itself after the fourteen seconds were up.
“Ready, little rabbit?” Zachary’s voice was low and threatening. Danger.
